Whatever guys ... This will be available again in some ways some time later.
Be realistic, it's not just 3 average preorder items or an emote we are talking about, it's 4 missions and 4 complete sets of fully customizable weapons.
One-shot promotional contents are never that detailed.
No way that would be a one-time only offer, simply because that would be too much work for just a promotional stuff, i honestly doubt they would waste development efforts on something like this for just a "promotion".
And Anet got to milk the cash cow you know ...
The promotion that was offered was "get it for free in november if you buy stuff online". Some people took it at face value and wasted money on useless stuff "to be sure" to get it.
But they never said anywhere it would not be available in another form later on. They avoided that question, precisely to create doubts (will it be available again later?) so that people would buy stuff, and also to be able to market it in another form later on.
Heck, the whole promotion buzz might as well be just a way to test the community's reaction to this "product", and see if they can sell it separately.
Well considering people's reactions, they obviously can.
No need to /sign, because there's obviously a plan like this going on.

And with the announcement of the BMP I thought: Well, I guess because it's a limited offer, I'll go ahead and buy GWEN through the ingame store. I won't get the box, which I love to have, but I'll some nice missions to compensate.
Now tell me this: If A-Net puts the BMP for sale, my purcharse on the store was useless, and I could have bought the game in a real store so I could get the box. If A-Net puts the BMP on sale, I want my GWEN box.
You were warned. Oh, you did'nt know about the weapons? That's too bad, I guess, but the BMP was announced three months in advance. You should have read the website and stayed informed.
The only ones I really feel sorry for are the ones who could'nt buy from the ingame store for whatever reason. But there were three months people. You could have gotten to figure out how you could buy stuff online.
If BMP comes out seperatly, then, there will be petitions for refunds and whatnot. Who, in their perfect sense would buy 3 character slots that serve no good? I would like the GWEN box, but I sacrificed it over to the BMP. If it sells seperatly, I want a GWEN box.
|
You are still perfectly able to get the box. I am sure that if you were able to spend for three useless slots in order to get the bonus pack, you can spend some more to get the box.
Look the point is not how long the bonus pack was available for purchase. The fact of the matter is people have valid reasons for not being able to purchase online and as the bonus pack is CONTENT not some visual vanity (divine aura) people should be able to access it. As far as I recall, one cannot use the same credit card to purchase products on other accounts.
Is it really that difficult to understand? All those who are not signing, I ask seriously, does it make you feel superior by saying "You have had plenty time, get over it"?
Let me simplify it this way, if you had to pay for three useless slots in order to get the bonus pack, then this was YOUR CHOICE, those who were unable to get the bonus pack for valid reason, HAD NO CHOICE. They were forced to get the retail and thus miss out on the CONTENT that is exclusive to the bonus pack.

I am 30 years old and without credit card. Why? well, in my country is not a "must" to have one, people normally pay with cash, check, or debit card (that debit cards don't work in GW store because aren't US dollar currency)
Visa and MasterCard are always trying really hard to make people use credit cards, but can't, lol; this country has the habit (as all latin-american country has) to keep all your money (recent payment) in your pockets for "honor" (cannot find the right word for explain this)

Specifically I don't want to see it "sold" separately. It was a promotional incentive for people to use the online store during the run up to the last release before GW2. I do sympathise with people who couldn't get hold of it because of the lack of payment options, and for that reason I wouldn't object to seeing it re-issued as a promotional incentive at some point in the future, and for NCSoft / Anet to sort out some better payment options.
Of course the problem with the above is that there may well not be any more substantial things to buy from the online store. So it's a debateable point. However, I'm not overly keen on seeing GW take the route of selling 'gear' for real-world cash, but as the weapons are unmodded and untradeable....that may not be much of a point anyway. For now though, I'm against "selling" it.
However, for the people who could and and didn't utilise the promotion, and are now up in arms because of all the nice new skins. Frankly, quit yer bitchin', you have no decent reason to complain. Didn't think Anet would make something decent? Oops... guess you were wrong.
Edit: I am curious about one thing - I've seen people saying that they can't use a debit card, I've paid for plenty of things online with mine (including GW:EN when I'd normally buy from a store) and also used it to pay online for charges made in USD (and I'm in the UK) how come this isn't possible elsewhere ?

I can't just go and buy anti-biotics without a prescription even though I was perfectly able to (and did) while abroad. I realize that's the rule where I live and I live with it. It means I have to go through the process of getting a prescription.
You live in a place that you know doesn't throw around credit cards. You live with that. I can move elsewhere if I want anti-biotics without a prescription, just as you can move elsewhere (or get a credit card) if you want a little bitty game bonus pack.
It's not that ANet won't let you buy it. It's that you choose not to buy it because doing so would require you to get a credit card or find a bank that has a labeled debit card. You are the reason you don't have it. Nobody else.
Stick to your guns, credit cards trap a lot of people. Sticking to your guns means doing without as well. It's your choice.
I think too many people have confused ArenaNet/NCSoft with Burger King.

Not all debit cards are recongised by the GW store or for that matter many online stores. Fortunely for the UK, cards like Maestro, Solo and Switch do work.

I'll take your word for it. Mine's actually a Delta, none of those three. And Delta / Electron cards carry a Visa symbol, so generally work anywhere that accepts Visa. I wouldn't know how non-UK banks issue debit cards, so was curious.

After the failure of Factions, many customers (me included) were reluctant to buy any further chapter.
ONLY when we realized that NF was a different story, we purchased. NF was there, available, buyable.
If you want to buy a house, what do you do?
Do you just read the advertisement, watch a picture and immediately spend your money without even visiting it?

Welcome to 2007. WTF Bank doesn't have a labeled debit card? Seriously, even the poedunk bank by Purdue (PEFCU) has labeled debit cards. I mean, its time to maybe venture outside the town you live in with a population of 12, 5 of which are inbreds. Cmon, that is no excuse. In an era where we can fit 400 TRANSISTORS ON A RED BLOOD CELL, where we can have cars that run on water, where we can create cloaking technology, that you can't get a modern debit card from a centralized chain of banking establishments? People are being idiotic. If your parents believe online shopping risks their security, then I have but one thing to say...
Here, I will give you all my Cell Phone number, encrypted. Good luck

There is always the option of buying a PREPAID Visa or MasterCard, and they are accepted by NC-Soft. Anyone who says that they are not availeble where they live either are to lazy or don't have the money anyway.

Everyone is missing the point. If Anet sold this in the online shop, it would be FREE MONEY. They don't have to do ANYTHING, except collect free money. It's stupid NOT to put it up for sale...

No, because that would backstab all those of us who bought items we don't really use to unlock it (extra character slots, PvP editions, w/e) Unless they charge 30 USD, in which case, everyone will start "OMG ANET ARE MEAN, 30 USD I AM NOT BUYING GW2, THEY ARE NOOBZ" threads all over Riverside. Oh, how fun that would be. Inde would just nuke the server for a few days after that (either that, or rip her eyes out attempting to read the rapid, mouth foaming threads of rage)

As I understood it, they added European means to pay. I speak mainly for Americans complaining, you Europeans have your own battle to wage there, so I am not even going to get into that. If that be the case, then the Euro servers maybe should have a buying option, but not for the US servers. Not getting the BMP was either by choice or by pure laziness in the case of US people.

The point was to buy EOTN and get that free with it. We all bought EOTN, just not through the shop, as the shop has terrible security. Buying things from the shop just to get the BMP, is the same as just BUYING the BMP.

No, it was to reward players (technically) for buying GW:EN through the online store OR PlayNC store. And the PlayNC store is very secure. Oh, and the online shop doesn't have bad security.
Again, here is my cell phone number. Call me, we can discuss this further.

Selling it for less then 30 USD would be cruel to those who didn't buy GW:EN, but rather bought other junk to add up to it.
